Seeing Hidden Files and Folders
To set Windows Explorer to show you hidden files and folders, open up Windows Explorer (the easiest way is to right click on the "start" button, and then hit "explore" from the menu that pops up). Click on the Tools menu, and click on Folder Options in the Tools menu.

The Folder Options window will pop up.

Click on the "view" tab in that window.

Look for a folder in that window that says "Hidden Files and Folders". There will be two radio buttons. Make sure that the radio button next to "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Then uncheck the next option underneath that, which is labelled "Hide file extensions for known file types". IN other words, make your Folder Options look like the picture above.
You will only have to do this once, since your preferences are saved on the server. So, once you change these options, it doesn't matter which workstation in the domain you log onto; they'll always be the same as however you changed them last.
Click the OK button to close this window.
